Will Coronation Street’s Rita Sullivan get to the church on time?
Next week in Soapland, there’s a nuptial nightmare, a shock pregnancy, a villain plumbs new depths and a posse of preposterous pop stars celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee…
Coronation Street

Tommy and Tina consider their options
Weddings in Soapland are often dramatic affairs – and Rita and Dennis’s nuptials are no exception. The rollercoaster ride begins when Tommy receives a call from Rick offering him a way out – one last job on Rita’s big day that will clear his debt once and for all.
Convinced he has no alternative, Tommy agrees to Rick’s terms – but girlfriend Tina has other ideas. After helping Rita get ready, she grabs the holdall of drugs and a petrol can, jumps in the car and drives off before Tommy can stop her. Arriving at the Red Rec, a very brave (or very stupid, depending on your point of view) Tina calls Rick, telling him that if he wants to see his drugs again, he’ll have to come and meet her in person.

Tina does a runner with Rick’s drugs
As a nervous Dennis waits for Rita at the register office with best man Ken, Rick heads to the Red Rec – with bride Rita in the back of his car. As he pulls up, Tina holds the bag and petrol can aloft and tells him she’s going to burn the drugs unless he slings his hook for good. But when Rick opens the door of his car to reveal his passenger, a shocked Tina can’t believe her eyes.

Dennis has every right to be worried about Rita’s no-show…
It’s Rick who now has the upper hand, as he tells Tina to return the drugs to Tommy, or he’ll drive Rita into the canal (gulp). At this point a bemused Rita demands to know what the heckety-heck is going on. When Tina explains, Rita – who’s been clipping wrong ’uns round the ear since Rick was a twinkle in his father’s eye – makes it clear she isn’t intimidated by the thug’s threats.

Will Rita’s wedding day end in tragedy?
Spurred on, Tina holds a lighter to the drugs, insisting that if Rick doesn’t hand over Rita she’ll torch the lot. Will he accede to her demands or is Rita’s wedding cake destined to go uneaten?

Who knew Dev was Prince Charming in disguise?
As if that wasn’t exciting enough, the whole street has gathered for a “come-as-your-favourite-pop star” street party to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. Just picture it: Dev as Adam Ant, Sunita as Beyonce, Max as Justin Bieber… believe me when I say you don’t want to miss it!

Zak’s back in the bosom of his family
Zak’s been having a lovely relaxing break in the Hotten psychiatric unit for the past few weeks, but unbelievably he’s starting to miss the shanty town chic of the Dingle homestead. Dr Makin reckons he’s not ready to return to the real world just yet, but Zak persuades the medic to let him at least try.
When Lisa receives a call to say Zak’s coming home she’s overwhelmed, but also concerned about which Zak she’ll be getting back – the softhearted scallywag, or the insaniac who talks to his dead rellies on t’moors. And, when Zak tosses his medication in the bin soon after his return, it’s clear she has every right to be worried.

Two unwelcome guests arrive at the Dingle residence
Zak’s behaviour grows even more eccentric when two loan sharks turn up at his front door demanding money. After giving them all the cash in the house, a confused Zak starts walking away from the village, before flagging down a passing cab. But when he turns violent, the driver calls the police and the delusional Dingle is admitted to hospital once more. Oh, Zak!

Gennie’s positive-ly upset!
In other news, Gennie confides in Chas that she could be eating for two. After buying several pregnancy test kits, the sisters head back to Victoria Cottage. As each test proves positive, poor Gennie is left in pieces, revealing to Chas that Nikhil doesn’t want children and she doesn’t know how she’s going to break the news to him

Ashley suffers a financial embarrassment at the B&B
Elsewhere, there’s more bad news for Ashley when his bank card is declined as he tries to pay his bill at the B&B. Desperate for funds, the disgraced vicar heads to the job centre and is horrified to learn he’ll have to wait 14 days to receive his benefit money, while the circumstances surrounding his sacking from the burger bar are investigated.

The former vicar comes home to roost
Homeless and broke, Ashley seeks sanctuary in the only place he can think of – the village church – and settles down for the night. How the mighty are fallen, eh?

Hapless Jean falls victim to Michael’s charms
Michael Moon’s caused nothing but trouble ever since he rocked up in Walford, all easy charm and chiseled cheekbones – and Jean Slater is about to become the alpha villain’s next victim.
Soap fans have already seen Jean invest her scratch card winnings and life savings in Michael’s boxing club. Next week, she tells him she wants to invest £10,000 of the Queen Vic’s VAT money into the venture – and Michael has no qualms about pocketing the cash and using it to treat pregnant wife Janine to a swanky weekend in Paris.

Jean realises she hasn’t been boxing clever
It isn’t long before Jean gets suspicious and heads to the gym to speak to Jack. As she cautiously enquires about Michael’s scheme to help the local kids, she’s stunned when Jack doesn’t appear to know anything about it.

Jean’s revelation leaves Janine reeling
Realising she’s been conned, Jean tells Janine about Michael’s machinations – but the businessman is quick to defend himself, telling Janine that Jean is obsessed with him and her accusations are nothing more than a fantasy.

Alfie and Kat try to get answers from Jean
When Alfie returns with Kat on Thursday, he’s horrified to discover the Vic’s bank account has been emptied. Determined to find out what’s been happening in their absence, the couple confront Jean, who tries to explain what Michael’s been up to. Afterwards, a livid Kat confronts Michael, demanding their money back, but it looks as if she might be about to fall under the silver-tongued smoothie’s spell once more…

Derek has his fingers in the till
In other news, Lucy is struggling to keep Ian’s businesses running in his absence. Seeing that she’s in difficulty, Derek turns up with some unasked-for stock. Alice looks on, impressed by her father’s good deed – but, when devious Del Boy returns later and helps himself to money from the till, Lucy realises to her dismay that he wasn’t helping her out of the goodness of his heart.
