TV picks of the week – 11th November
Kirsty’s pick of the best TV this week includes dinosaur secrets, dark hospital drama, teenage vampires and hairy women.
Delve into the dark side
Like your hospital dramas a tad darker than Holby City? They don’t come much bleaker than Nurse Jackie – a brilliantly funny, pitch black comedy drama following the increasingly complicated life of a functioning drug addict, loving wife, mother, and first-class ER nurse.
Need some parenting advice? The Man With 20 Kids is the story of Mike Holpin, an alcoholic dad of – you guessed it – 20 kids. He even has his family tree tattooed across his back for handy reference. This gripping documentary delves into Mike’s life as he battles a drink problem and a court conviction.
Must see TV
Take a fresh look at the development and decline of dinosaurs from newly found fossils and bones in the fascinating Dinosaur Secrets. And delve into the modern world’s obsession with depilation in F*** Off! I’m A Hairy Woman with comedienne Shazia Mirza.
Best of the rest
1. Vampire Diaries – brutal slayings are de regeur in this teen vampire series
2. Brothers and Sisters – more drama from the world’s most glamorous fruit and veg vendors
3. My Wife and Kids – award-winning comedy with Damon Wayans
4. Supernatural – Sam and Dean investigate more dark goings-on
5. The Untold Great Fire of London – was the great fire started by a foreign enemy?
