Kelly Hoppen joins Dragons' Den

Interior design entrepreneur Kelly Hoppen will be the new face on the Dragons’ Den panel for the eleventh series of the hit BBC Two show.

Kelly will join the other fearsome Den inhabitants for the next installment of the show that will launch later this year.

She will replace former panellist, Hilary Devey, who announced her departure earlier this year. A second dragon is still being sought to replace Theo Paphitis who quit the show last month after nine years.

Kelly Hoppen, who also runs a central London design school, was awarded an MBE in 2009, is the author of seven design books, and also fronted Channel 5’s Superior Interiors show in 2011.

The 53-year-old designer began her career at 16, and is famed for her natural and neutral colour schemes which have earned her the title ‘Queen of Cream’.

Kelly spoke of her excitement about being able to champion aspiring entrepreneurs and her invest in innovative new talent:

“Having started my design business as a teenager, building a global brand through two recessions, I understand the reality of running a creative business.

“I’m looking forward to bringing a different perspective into the Den and to hopefully finding an undiscovered gem or two.”

The new series will see a fresh batch of hopeful entrepreneurs pitch their business ideas to the team of stern-faced millionaires.

Long-time favourites Duncan Bannatyne and Peter Jones – who have been on the panel since its launch in 2005 – will return for the 11th series, along with Deborah Meaden, who made her debut in series three.
