Emmerdale's Debbie

Next week in Soapland, there’s a heart-in-mouth hospital drama, a wife plays away from home, and a turf war turns violent…

Emmerdale

Debbie’s nearest and dearest come to blows

Cheating on your girlfriend is always a dangerous business – as Cameron is about to find out. As a new week dawns in the Dales, the tricksy trucker is busy putting the finishing touches to his plan to run away with Chas. Meanwhile, Cain is starting to smell a rat. Convinced Cameron is up to no good, he heads over to his house and demands to know what’s going on.

As is so often the case in Soapland, a casual tête-a-tête turns into a furious slanging match, while a distressed Debbie looks on. Suddenly, Cameron launches himself at Cain, and in the melee Debbie is accidentally knocked to the ground. A horrified Cameron rushes to his pregnant girlfriend’s aid, while Cain dials 999.

Is Debbie’s unborn child okay?

As soon as she hears what’s happened, Chas rushes to the hospital, desperately concerned for her niece (it’s a bit late for that, Chas!). Meanwhile, a midwife reassures Debbie that her baby is unharmed. As Cameron comforts Debbie, he promises he’ll never let anyone hurt her again – unaware that Chas is just outside the door, listening to every word. Have the secret lovers’ plans been shattered? It certainly looks that way…

Alicia ties the knot with an unsuspecting David

In other news, Alicia is thrown when she discovers Justin no longer intends to fight David for custody of Jacob. Realising there’s now no need to go through with her sham wedding to David, she decides to keep schtum and marry him anyway. What a little devil, eh?

Whatever happened to ‘thou shalt not steal’?

Elsewhere, homeless ex-vicar Ashley falls even further into the depths of hellfire when he steals sandwiches from the village shop when David’s back is turned.

Ashley puts his trust in a stranger

Worse is to come when his meagre belongings are pinched by a young woman masquerading as a Good Samaritan. Now if that isn’t divine retribution, I don’t know what is…

EastEnders

Kat’s list of fellas just keeps getting longer…

With her come-to-bed eyes, scarlet lips, and barely-there mini dresses, Kat Moon has always had an in-yer-face sexuality – and when she takes over the running of the Queen Vic’s new football team, any shred of subtlety she possesses goes straight out the window.

The action begins when Kat sets out to find players for the team, deciding that husband Alfie’s approach to recruitment isn’t working. As she approaches Jack, Ray and Max for one-on-one negotiations, her unorthodox tactics include hefty doses of flattery and flirtation.

Kat works her silky skills on Max

Curvaceous Kat also cosies up to Derek when he asks her to recruit Joey for the team, keen to keep his estranged son in Walford on a more permanent basis. And when rival team manager Vivienne starts bad mouthing Kat in the Vic following a ‘friendly’ match, chivalrous Derek defends Kat’s honour by throwing Vivienne and her entire squad out of the pub.

Will Kat play away from home with Derek?

Meanwhile, Kat is growing ever closer to Michael and when she takes him upstairs and gives him some of Tommy’s old baby clothes, his eyes roam her figure in obvious appreciation, as he comments that being a football manager suits her.

Kat and Michael bond over baby clothes

By the end of the week, Kat’s relationship with one of these five men is on a much more intimate footing. Who’s the lucky fella? Sorry, Walford watchers, soap’s Official Secrets Act prevents me from dishing the dirt!

After a few sangrias, Shirl’s not shy…

In other news, Shirley makes a drunken show of herself at the Albert Square barbecue, harassing a bemused Fat Boy in the Vic, then climbing on top of the Square’s public toilets. Her inebriated singing soon turns to tears, however, when she realises how much she misses her late best mate Heather. Worse is to come when she tries to get down and her old fear of heights re-emerges. Luckily, Jean is on hand to gently talk her down. Is this the beginning of an unlikely friendship? Lord knows, Shirley can do with all the friends she can get right now…

Coronation Street

Friends become enemies…

A familiar face returns to the Street next week – and his arrival is set to cause one almighty hoo-hah. The drama begins when Streetcars boss Steve spots former business partner Lloyd emerging from a cab owned by rival firm Prima. Explaining his new job as a stopgap, a sheepish Lloyd reveals he’s down on his uppers after losing most of his money in an ill-advised property deal.

Big-hearted Steve immediately offers his old friend a job at Streetcars and Lloyd is quick to accept. But it soon becomes clear he’s misread the situation, believing Steve wants him to return as co-owner, not as a mere driver.

When Lloyd walks into the cab office, revealing the bank has agreed to lend him the money to buy back into the business, Steve makes it clear he’s not interested in hooking up with Lloyd, after the mess he left him in last time.

The next day, Steve discovers a new cab firm, ‘Fare Ladies’ (groan!), has muscled in on his turf, offering better rates and women drivers. Furious, he heads over to confront the owner – and is stunned to find it’s none other than Lloyd.

Tracy has sabotage in mind

When Tracy gets wind of Lloyd’s machinations, she devises a cunning plan to help Steve. After convincing an unsuspecting Lloyd to give her the switchboard operator’s job at Fare Ladies, she’s soon at her wicked best, sending the cabs in the wrong direction and passing on bookings to Steve so he can intercept jobs.

Lloyd and Steve behave like a couple of kids

Unbeknown to Steve, Tracy goes even further, sabotaging the fuel tanks of Lloyd’s cars and leaving his business running on empty. Convinced Steve’s to blame, Lloyd angrily confronts him at Amy’s school sports day, tackling his rival to the ground as the children look on in horror. Will the two men be able to resolve their differences? Amazingly, the answer is yes.

Izzy has some shock news for boyfriend Gary

Elsewhere, Gary is stunned when girlfriend Izzy reveals she’s eating for two. Will he stand by his woman or run for the hills? Only time will tell…

Norris and Hayley take to the dancefloor

In other news, the day of Hayley and Norris’s dance exam arrives. Here’s hoping they cha-cha-charm the sequined pants off the examiner!
