Jorgie-Porter

With only six celebrities remaining in the competition, things really started to hot up on the ice this week.

To add to the drama, the skating stars were split into two groups to put on an ensemble performance – with the team winning the judges’ approval doubling their individual scores.

Proving that a little bit of girl power can go a long way, Jorgie Porter, Chemmy Alcott and Jennifer Ellison put in a joint routine to the Spice Girls’ hit “Spice Up Your Life”. The boys (Matthew Wolfenden, Chico and Andy Whyment) responded with a performance to YMCA. In the end, it was the girls who won the judges’ favour – and the precious extra points.

In the individual routines, it was actually Matthew Wolfenden who got the highest score of the series so far – 28.5 – but the girls’ team win denied him the top spot, which went instead to Jorgie. Chemmy also stepped up her game significantly, mastering a tricky lift to score 25.5.

Putting in a turn as Elvis, and skating to Suspicious Minds, it was Andy Whyment who had made the greatest improvement. However, it was a case of “Andy… has left the building”, as the Corrie star was finally evicted – despite achieving his highest ever score of the series. At this stage of the competition, the improvement wasn’t enough to save him from the Skate Off and ultimately eviction.

With Andy’s departure, the last of the “comedy” performers has left, leaving five strong candidates with their eyes on the final. It seems almost certain that Matthew and Jorgie will make the final two– their skating has been consistently strong throughout the whole series.

The question is: will the boy or girl win in the end? Or are there further surprises in store?
