Carolynne

Carolynne Poole became the first act to leave The X Factor last night…after a results show packed with drama.

The 32-year-old found herself in the sing-off with Rylan Clark after the pair received the fewest amount of public votes. Nicole Scherzinger opted to save Rylan, her own act, while Gary Barlow also chose to save his mentee Carolynne.

Tulisa then chose to send Rylan home and a very indecisive Louis eventually chose to send Carlolynne home after performing a huge U-turn (he had originally said he wanted to save her), meaning that that the decision went to deadlock.

It was then revealed that Carolynne had the lowest amount of votes and would be leaving the competition, prompting a furious Gary to storm off in anger and an emotional Rylan to burst into tears. Could it get any more dramatic?

Later on the Xtra Factor, Barlow said of Walsh’s decision: “Absolute joke. I’m so gutted for [Carolynne]“.

Gary had previously expressed his doubts about Rylan the night before, after his rendition of Spandau Ballet’s huge hit ‘Gold’, saying to the 23 year old:

“I wanted to have some fun this year and I really was having fun until you started singing tonight. I am embarrassed to be sat here.”

However, Carolynne had impressed the judges during Saturday night’s show by putting her own unique twist on Nicky Minaj’s catchy tune ‘Starships’, earning herself nothing but praise.

After it was announced she would be leaving the competition, Carolynne was dignified in her response when she said to Dermot that she was ‘glad Rylan has been given another shot because he had been given a tough time’. This is true – the decisions are out of his hands now so maybe the poor guy should be given a break!

In other news, Christopher Maloney was given a second chance as he was voted back into the show after winning the wild card vote, the ‘virus’ sounding boy band were renamed as ‘District 3‘ (much better, don’t we think?) and Ella Henderson gave another faultless performance with an amazing rendition of Take That’s ‘Rule the World’.

Looks like the fun really has begun…

Do you think Carolynne should have been sent home tonight? Did Louis make the wrong decision? Let us know below.
