Dancing on Ice: Oona King leaves after the most dramatic skate off ever!
There may be more ice outside at the moment than on the ice rink in the studio, but it was still cold enough in there to cause a stir. Oona King became the third celebrity to leave Dancing on Ice last night, after one of the most dramatic events in the show’s history.
The politician faced rugby star Gareth Thomas in the Save Me Skate but just after it was revealed they would be skating again, Mark Henretty, Oona’s professional partner, took a very serious tumble.
Oona and Mark were skating out onto the ice when he dramatically fell, clutching his arm in pain. He then had to be sent away to receive medical attention and it was revealed by presenter Phillip Schofield that he had suffered a dislocated shoulder, leaving everyone to wonder whether he would be able to perform.
Luckily the joint was popped back in and Mark bravely performed what would become his and Oona’s final skate. The pair skated to ‘Just the Two of Us’, but it sadly was not enough to save them.
Earlier in the night, Oona lost out on immunity after going head to head with fellow contender Beth Tweddle in a dual skate. This week all the couples skated for the first time but in joint routines, pitching their skating skills against each other.
EastEnders star Matt Lapinskas, squared up to rugby legend Gareth Thomas in his dual dance, proved to be a hit with the judges once again, and gained an automatic place in next week’s show. Also on fire this week was Coronation Street star Samia Ghardie and her rumoured boyfriend/professional partner Sylvain Longchambon. They won unanimous praise from the judges for their very sleek performance, despite the fact that Samia apparently popped a rib during training (the medics really have had a time of it this week!).
However, the highlight performance of the evening has to be that of Keith Chegwin and Joe Pasquale, who really were very well matched in terms of being terrible but incredibly likeable. They took to the ice in matching ivory satin. Despite the fact that it was Keith that won immunity, they are both very much two of the worst, which makes them easily the best in terms of viewing.
What did you make of last night’s dramatic turn of events? Do you think Oona should have gone? Let us know below.
