Artboxes

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of ChildLine, the BT ArtBox project – a huge, open-air art exhibition – is taking over London’s streets until July 16.

We asked more than 80 leading artists to re-style the original Gilbert Scott-designed K6 telephone kiosk in their own creative way.

The creative talents involved include Sir Peter Blake with Swarovski, Lily Cole, architect Zaha Hadid, fashion designers Giles Deacon, Zandra Rhodes, Philip Treacy and Julien Macdonald, artists Rob and Nick Carter, Ryan Callanan, Martyn Ware, sculptor David Mach RA and interior designer Nina Campbell.

The ArtBoxes started off in Trafalgar Square before being moved to their new homes in landmark locations around the capital, including Covent Garden, St.Pancras International, Carnaby Street, Heathrow, Broadgate, Speakers’ Corner on Park Lane, Bond Street and at the Tower of London.

On July 18, some of the BT ArtBoxes will be auctioned off at a VIP Gala Auction hosted by Sotheby’s at the National Portrait Gallery. All other BT ArtBoxes will be available to buy online via an eBay auction.
