At last – Adam gives Jane a ring!
They’ve kept us on tenterhooks since 2005, but now one of the longest running love affairs in Ad Land is heading up the aisle, as the latest BT ad reveals Adam and Jane are getting married.
The new TV ad focuses on Jane’s daughter Lucy’s difficult relationship with her dad. After she complains he only ever squeezes calls in with her on his mobile between meetings, Jane asks him to make time for a proper chat with his daughter over the landline. Once they’re relaxed and catching up properly, Lucy shocks both her parents by spilling the beans about her mum’s impending wedding to Adam. Uh-oh.
Adam and Jane were introduced as our new family back in 2005, to show how we can help the modern, everyday family stay in touch. Back then Adam was moving in with Jane and her two children from a previous relationship. At the start, Jane’s children Joe, 13, and Lucy, 9, were suspicious of Adam but over the last five years the family has grown closer together.
As with any modern family, it hasn’t always run smoothly for the BT family and last July it seemed the couple may be separating when Adam moved to Cornwall to take up a job. Fans of the ad campaign reacted by setting up a group fighting to keep them together. There are currently over 3,000 active fans of the TV campaign on Facebook.
And it seems the campaigning has paid off with the announcement that they are set to get married – but will Lucy’s bombshell, and her dad’s shocked reaction, lead to more difficulties?
